HISTORY
The company was incorporated with a name “Tata Information Systems Limited” and the name has been changed to “Tata IBM Limited” with effect from 29th May 1997. Again the name has been changed to “IBM INDIA LIMITED”, with effect from 20.08.1999.
Initially the company was formed under the Joint Venture Agreement entered between IBM & TATAS, with equity proportion of 50:50 basis.
In June, IBM purchased the equity stake of TATAS with the approval of ‘Foreign Investment Promotion Board, subsequently the name of the company has been changed in August 1999.
