Applications
CT-Tracking Roller Assemblies :
CT-Tracking roller assembly (TRA)
consists of two rectangular steel tubing frames. One is stationery, the other
is movable; it is supported in a nylaguide sliding block and arcuate bar
system, and has an idler roller at either end. The web can be fed over the TRA
in a 'U' shaped path, reversing its direction of travel, or through the TRA in
a 'Z' configuration, maintaining the same direction of travel. It is
insensitive to attitude and can even be mounted upside down. Solidly supported
on all four corners by nylaguide bearings, it is not subject to deflections
caused by cantilever stresses. Radial bearings are sealed, and linear bearings
are self-cleaning and self-lubricating. The unit therefore requires no
maintenance.
The Principle :
The TRA is designed so that it swings
in an arc laterally, pivoting about an imaginary pivot point located exactly in
the plane of the entering web path. The servo cylinder swings the other end of
the frame, moving the outgoing web laterally back into the desired web path.
Because the TRA correction range is increased by lengthening the span.
Therefore the correction angle can be kept small to reduce induced stresses to
the level desired. Because stresses can be kept minimal, the TRA can be used to
guide within the tension loop on the process. It can be installed successfully
on lines handling fragile materials such as parchment paper, thin metal foil,
or saturated paper even when other guiding methods have failed. It can also be
used to make economically large corrections in the web path, even displacing
the shifting unwind, because of its very low inserted sness level.
Description :
Standard adapter bases consists of a
stationary floor-mounted frame or plate, a four unit, standard nylaguide
bearing and support system, and a moving frame or plate. A heavy duty servo
cylinder is nested between the frames and the nylaguide bearings. The servo
cylinder moves the upper adapter base plate back and forth in response to
hydraulic signals from the power unit.
Applications :
The CT adapter base is designed for use
in applications where the unwind or rewind stand must be shiftable. By fitting
the adapter base under the stand, a simple and economical installation is
obtained. Because of the relatively high mass of the unwind or rewind rolls,
its use is most often found in applications. Where response time can be
relatively slow, and where accuracles are not overly critical.
In Rewind guide the detector is attached
to the moving frame before fixed idler with sufficient warp to stabilize Web.
In Unwind guide the idler roller
attached on moving frame before the fixed detector to stabilize the Web.
EDGE Detector
Air Flow Sensor :
C. Trivedi non-contact Air flow sensor
are specially designed to work with hydraulic power unit.
Air is expelled from two opposing
orifics the differential in Air pressure is used to detect lateral wanders of
the material in process. The air flow sensor are self cleaning they are specially
suitable for guiding, installations located in dusty areas, the Air flow
sensors used with fine adjusting, mounting brackets.
Air flow sensor are precision-machined
and carefully tested to give years of trouble free services. Essentially
low-pressure transverse impact modulators, they are suitable for use on all
webs.
Detection Devices :
Web guiding relies upon an integrated
feedback control system, that is, the detection device continuously senses web
location and sends an appropriate corrective signal strength is dependent upon
the position of the web and is therefore proportional.
Traditional sensing relies on
pneumatics. The edge of the web passes between to 'Fingers" which contain
to opposing outbreathing jets of air. The position of the edge modulates the
effects of the jets on the another, causing a pressure fluctuation in the air
supply of one of the jets. It is this pressure fluctuation which provides the
corrective signal that controls the power unit output.
CT provides off-the shelf, many styles
and sizes of pneumatic detectors. In addition to the traditional detector, they
can supply a special porous sensing detector which can guide on a row of holes,
or which can sense the edge of scrim material with openings as large as a half
of an inch.
Servo Cylinder :
CT uses precision bi-directional
hydraulic cylinders to move its actuating devices. The hydraulic cylinder is
equipped with a gimbal mounting at both ends to allow the cylinder to position
itself so that it does not bind. Nylon tubing is recommended for use as
hydraulic lines. Metal tubing is also acceptable, although care must be taken
to insure free float of the cyliner. Polythylene or rubber hoses are not
recommended because they sell under pressure and reduce accuracy and stability.
Web Guide Power Units :
CT Power units are used to
automatically guide all types of flexible materials of any width, at any speed,
under any load. Completely self-contained, with an integral air pump, these
units eliminate the need for additional air regulators or plant air. Modular
construction and subplate-mounted components provide maximum ease of servicing.
Inherent capabilities of CT units assure stable operation at all correcting
speeds and loads. Air Pressure Power Units are available in models from 1/4 H.P.
to 3 H.P. to meet any guiding application you may have. Double and triple power
units are available incorporating two and three servo valves on the same
reservoir to handle multiple guiding applications.
A source of power is mandatory in a web
guiding system. The power unit is much more than just an energy source,
however, because it normally furnishes modulated power to the actuating
devices. It therefore is an amplifier of control signals, as well as a power
source.
In addition to providing hydraullic
power for the actuating circuit the power unit produces pneumatic power for the
sensors. Sensor supply pressure must remain constant, and the power supply
provides this element. Their constant pressure generator produces constant
pressure at a given head no pressure regulator is therefore required. Water,
oil and scale contamination and other miscellaneous plant air problems are also
avoided.
CT uses one of a series of Web guide
pneumatic hydraulic units in most of its systems. These units come in several sizes
and a suitable one can be found for any application
AUTODOCT
The Developed Doctoring Machine From
the House of C.T. :
In any paper, firm & foil
conversion industry, "SLITTING" is invariably the last operation to
be performed. At the time of slitting, irrespective of the brand and type of
slitting machine employed, ten to twelve percent of the output (i.e. One out of
10 or 8 slit to size bobbins) is not of saleble quality. This is a Harsh
practical fact and the reason thereof are quite well known. The model is
specially designed for correcting badly wound roller for removing the
misregistered and rejected material before it goes to final delivery, in order
to rectify salvage such rejection, the Doctoring machine has been specially
developed through the R & D efforts at C.T.

SPREADER/EXPANDER ROLLER
Operation/Application Data :
Curved rubber rollers, being of
constant diameter and on accrued, nonrotatin shaft, allow material to run at
uniform tension across the web while in contact with the roller surface.
Expander rollers have approximately twice as much shaft bow as the spreader rollers
in expanding or spreading textiles, paper, or film, these rollers utilize two
principles : expansion through perpendicular force applied in the entering
span, and expansion of the roller cover.
