Quality
They can all recognize the hallmarks of quality - they know the
sound of a well-made engine, grasp the value of a lovingly made piece of
furniture, and appreciate working for a company which implements structured
management standards. But many of us are unaware of the processes and
principles that result in a quality product, service or work of art.
Quality Assurance (QA) is an essential part of consistently
producing great results and they @ D&B Predictive Sciences &
Analytics Private Limited firmly believe that this is the tool which
will help us achieve better results.
Quality is a passion at D&B Predictive Sciences &
Analytics Private Limited and the aspects of high quality permeate
every department here. The strong process orientation and panache embedded in
every D&B associate translates into real benefits like reduced cycle times,
improved customer satisfaction index and better cost efficiencies. The process
orientation encompasses all the departments in the organization and is not
isolated to just the product development or service delivery functions.
Reusing its extensive experience of the most valuable human
resources and taking the best practices from other quality management systems,
D&B Predictive Sciences & Analytics Private Limited has developed
its own system suited to the unique strategic product development. It is called
D&BEMS® (D&B Excellence Management System) and this helps us leverage
the experience acquired over many programs to help their clients get a
jumpstart in the delivery of their programs.
The quality culture at D&B is founded on well-evolved
quality systems - the Quality Process Framework Documentation (QPFD), Process
Database and the Organizational Knowledge Database. The QPFD is a comprehensive
repository of all Software Life Cycle and Project Management Processes and
Methodologies. The Quality Department maintains and enhances this repository,
based on experience gained from project implementations and benchmarking
international practices. The QPFD is available to all project personnel through
the Intranet. It includes checklists, document templates and standards &
guidelines for forms and coding. The following is a pictorial representation of
the QPFD at D&B.
The figure above shows the use of quality processes through
the lifecycle of a project, from conceptualization to closure. It originates
from a well defined presales process paving way for a signed off
project/product development activity to kickoff. This activity is carried out
sequentially through a Project Life Cycle process equally supported by the core
Engineering Life Cycle processes along with Project Support and Organizational
Support processes. Detailed checklists, standards, templates and guidelines
exist within the processes to bring in rigor and predictability into every
aspect of project planning and execution. These processes and templates exist
across various types of projects (development, maintenance, prototyping, etc)
to typify every aspect of the project (requirements analysis, change/
configuration management, tailoring, defect or schedule estimation, etc).
The Process Database consists of a project metrics database,
process metrics database and a process-capability baseline. Project leaders use
these to estimate effort, schedule tasks and predict defect levels during the
project-planning phase. The process database is based on data from past
projects and ensures that project plans are realistic. Further, project
monitoring based on these metrics increases its effectiveness.
All quality systems are available on the organization wide
Intranet. These systems facilitate the creation of a process-oriented mind-set
at D&B. D&B's ability to commit and consistently deliver superior
software solutions, hinges on these quality systems.

Risk
and Rating Solutions
Risk management is a significantly important function in banks
in the context of metamorphic changes brought about by changing financial
landscape characterized by increased competition, rapid use of innovative
financial products, thinning of spreads, shareholder activism and stringent
regulatory requirements aimed at ensuring financial stability.
While a few banks believe Basel-II to be a revolution in the
name of regulation that would benefit them handle these changes, the most
prominent view considers it to be to be a costly exercise in fulfillment of
regulatory compliance. D&B strongly believes that if properly
conceptualized and implemented, Basel-II can be the source of strategic
advantage to banks by sharply focusing attention on stakeholder wealth
maximization through improved risk sensitivity, strategic planning, risk-based
pricing, risk adjusted performance measurement and incentive compensation at
various levels in addition to fulfilling regulatory requirements. D&B’s
approach to risk consulting & software solutions are deeply rooted in international
best practices calibrated to regulatory requirements of banks from time to
time.
