The Institute
Commitment to excellence in research is the foundation of Institute of Life Sciences (ILS).
The
ILS has created a state-of-the-art research center within
the campus of
Innovation is the spirit of ILS and its formation. Even with an amazing advancement of sciences, there is still a lot to be done as far as human health is concerned. They see so many unmet medical needs that are to be addressed. With this backdrop, ILS readies itself to pursue scientific research with a purpose and find solutions to better human health.
The Mission of ILS is to find solutions to improve human health through the application of cutting edge research in integrated disciplines of life sciences.
ILS intends to work on cellular and molecular targets of a few important diseases within the mandate of the institute and design novel therapeutic approaches there for.
In a nutshell, ILS would strive to help improve human health through research in life sciences.
Genesis
Research in life sciences has traditionally been organized into distinct disciplines such as chemistry, biology, pharmacology and other branches of sciences.
With the advent of major advances in science and technology, a need exists for integrating various disciplines of life sciences to provide a more incisive probe into the causes and cures of the diseases. ILS has been founded to provide solutions to significant unmet medical needs using a multidisciplinary approach to research in life sciences.
ILS provides a platform where scientists from industry and academia can interact and explore collaborative opportunities.
The Guiding Force
ILS is a professionally managed organization. It functions under the able guidance of eminent personalities with a vision.
SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
A Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is being constituted with eminent scientists
in life sciences, drawn from across the globe.
The SAB will help
• Establish a research road map for ILS
• Network scientific thought leaders
• Review scientific progress
• Validate research ideas
• Attract top scientists to work at ILS
MANAGEMENT COUNCIL
The Director and Senior executives of the Institute form a management council
to ensure the policy implementation and to manage research planning, operations
and resources.
Research
Taking roots as a public - private partnership Institution, ILS is shaping up in sprawling, serene and scenic environs. ILS thus provides an eco-friendly environment to the scientists to carry on focused research activities.
ILS encourages applied as well as basic research in the frontier areas of biological and chemical sciences.
Objectives
To understand molecular mechanisms involved in development and progression of disease processes, leading to creation of new knowledge for discovering novel therapies.
v To integrate chemical and biological sciences in pursuit of fundamental scientific advances.
v To train researchers to meet growing scientific challenges of Life Sciences Industry.
v To provide a platform for interaction and collaboration between industry and academia.

Post Doctoral Positions
ILS intends to recruit fresh Ph.D candidates in life sciences, biochemistry,
organic chemistry and related fields as Post-doctoral
Research Fellows to work with the existing groups in any of
the focus research areas. Fellowships are tenable for a term of two years and
can be extended further, subject to satisfactory performance. Interested
individuals are encouraged to write to the Head of Human Resources, enclosing
curriculum vitae, with names of 3 referees.
Research Trainees
ILS intends to recruit bright, promising and motivated M.Sc / M.Pharm / M.Tech
/ B.Tech candidates in life sciences, biochemistry, organic chemistry and
related fields as Research Trainees to work in different research groups.
The traineeships are for an initial period of two years and carry attractive
stipend.
At the end of two years, the trainees may be permitted to register for Ph.D, subject to satisfactory performance and fulfilling the qualifying norms of the Institute.
Research Infrastructure
Research Infrastructure is an essential pre-requisite for an efficient execution of any task. ILS has taken keen interest to make available high–order infrastructure that suits the purpose.
ILS research facilities, spread over 1,30,000 Sq ft. building comprising several modules housing a total 32 Research Laboratories, 10 support laboratories, Pre Clinical Biology, Cafeteria, Recreation, Auditorium , Library etc.
Among special facilities Tissue culture lab, radioactive lab and containment facilities also provided to make it state of the art.
