SAVE THE CHILDREN presence in Indonesia spans some three decades –
dating back to 1976 and today is the largest country program. Their work in the
provinces of Nangroe Aceh Darusalam, North Sumatera, Jakarta, West Java,
Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, West Kalimantan and South Sulawesi
includes programs that improve the health of children and women, address child
exploitation and trafficking issues, enhance food security and nutrition,
increase the relevancy of junior secondary education and prepare families and
communities for emergencies.
SAVE THE CHILDREN is a leading non profit humanitarian relief and
development organization and is a member of the INTERNATIONAL SAVE the CHILDREN
Alliance, a global network of 27 independent Save the Children organizations
working to ensure the well-being and protection of children in more than 110
countries. Save the Children, by mobilizing citizens throughout the world,
envisions a world in which every child is ensured the right to survival, protection,
development and participation as set forth in the U.N. Convention on the Rights
of the Child. Mission : To create lasting, positive change in the lives of
children in need.
Indonesia has 76 million children, the fourth-largest child population in
the world. As a result of the development problems faced by the country,
children’s health and education are at risk – more than two million children
under age 5 are malnourished and nearly one-third between the age of 5 and 9
are not in school. Girls and boys also face other dangers, such as child
trafficking and child labor. Children under age 18 comprise 30 percent of all
sex workers in Indonesia. Save the Children’s programs address critical issues
to improve the lives of children and their families. They provide immediate
assistance as well as longer-term protection, empowering communities and
families to safeguard their children’s rights and ensure their futures.
Besides, Save the Children provides education, health, food security, economic
opportunities and others.
Save the Children has served the children and families of Indonesia for
three decades and today implements a full range of development and
post-disaster initiatives. The breadth and depth of their current programming,
coupled with strong working relationship with the government of Indonesia at
the national, provincial and district levels and extensive network of national
organizations, provides an excellent base to grow the programs for children and
to provide them with a brighter, more secure futures.
In Indonesia, SAVE THE CHILDREN is led by Mr. Kevin Byrne and Mr. Mike
Novel, both are of Head Mission. Daily, he assisted by Mr. Maharani Hardjoko,
as Organization Person. We observed that management’s reputation in said
international organization is sufficiently fairly good. The international
organization had wide relation in the realm of the government official within
and outside the country. So far, we did not hear that the organization’s
management involved in a dirty business practice or detrimental cases that
settled in the country. SAVE THE CHILDREN is sufficiently fairly good for
business transaction.
