Business Growth
The dynamics of the Indian Telecom market has changed during the year 2003. Mobile Communication has become a service, not only for the rich and upper middle class, but also for the masses. Mobile call became as cheap as the fixed calls and the growth in number of subscribers and traffic per subscriber exceeded all expectations. Limited mobility finally became full mobility and they have in India a competitive market in mobile service, which is volume driven and based on both GSM and CDMA technology.
The year the company
received significant orders in Phase II and III from BSNL both for expansion of
the existing networks in Northern and Eastern India amounting to Rs.2961
Million and for new networks in the States of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, North
East and Kolkata amounting to Rs.1368 Million.

Subject has played a major role in spreading the cellular revolution in the country. With 39 out of 74 operational GSM mobile system networks supplied by Ericsson in India, the company today has a market share of over 43 per cent in terms of connected subscribers, more than the sum of the market shares of it's next two competitors, establishing it as the leading mobile systems and services company in the country.

Ericsson's GSM equipment supports cellular services in license areas of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Orissa, Punjab and the North East. Ericsson's Production Facility In India

Ericsson in India
established a manufacturing unit in the year 1994 at Kukas, Jaipur (Rajasthan).
This unit is situated approximately 15 kms north-east of Jaipur, on Delhi -
Jaipur National Highway in close vicinity of the Aravalis. Jaipur City,
popularly known as Pink City is on the tourist World map, and is also the State
Capital of Rajasthan.
Jaipur Factory is the latest in an important series of 'Localization Moves' by
Ericsson involving the transfer of the technologies. The then CEO of Ericsson
Mr. Lars Ramqvist inaugurated this manufacturing unit in 1995. The unit covers
the total land area of 81000 square meters with a built- up area of 5610 sqm.
Factory came in operation for the assembly of wire-line Equipment such as AXE
Digital Switching System as Local Exchange (LE) for the use in the Indian
Telecommunication Network such as BSNL and MTNL, and also for exports to
international markets. Factory supplies included Wire line transmission
products, Digital Transit Exchange (TE), U-Mux for Railways, Splicers to DoT,
Power & Transmission equipments, ISP Products etc. Other significant supplies
included Data network (DNIP) equipments in 17 States (13 telecom circles) of
India, Digital Trunk Exchanges (DTAX) supply with a volume of more than 500KC
to Government Operators and 10KC to Reliance. Factory had an installed assembly
capacity of 600K wire-lines per year, all rigidly monitored under Ericsson's
worldwide Quality Assurance standards.
Ericsson in India has also supplied Rs. 1.300 Millions lines order of AXE
Digital Switching System to the Government Operators BSNL and MTNL. BSNL
