movement was chiefly instrumental in, organizing the much exploited sugarcane
'growers of the 44 villages, in and around Pravaranagar, way back in 1948, and
establishing
In 1901, subject was born in a peasant’s
family at Loni, was disconsolated by the pitiable plight of the poor, the
illiterate and the downtrodden peasantry who were exploited by the
money-lenders, feudal lords, and private sugar factory owners. In those days
the local peasantry of Pravara area had to face difficulties in marketing of
sugarcane, as conversion of sugarcane into Sugar was totally uneconomical and
the "Jaggery Prices, reached the rock bottom.
That is why; Mr. Padmashri began exploring
ways of uplifting the farmers of this area. It dawned on him that co-operative
movement was the only ideal medium to achieve his goal. He pioneered
co-operative movement as a tool for social, educational and economic upliftment
of the rural masses. His inexhaustible efforts changed the rural scene of

distinguished title in appreciation of his life's work with the co-operative
movement, at the hands of the President of India, Late. Dr. Rajendra Prasad in
1961 and was saluted with the honorary D. Lit. degree by
His eminent son - Hon'ble Shri. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, Ex Minister of
Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, established “Dr. Vikhe Patil
Foundation”. The farmers contributed towards the education fund from every
tonne of the sugarcane sent to the factory. Vittahalrao was conferred the

On 21st August
1981, the formation of Pravara Rural Polytechnic symbolizes the ascendance of
plateau of achievement of academic excellence, in dissemination of quality
education from preprimary to collegiate level by Pravara Rural Education Society,
ensconced at Loni, by Late Padmashri Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil in 1964.
Hon'ble Namdar Shri. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil,
Minister of State for Finance, Govt. of India, worthy son of Late Padmashri, a
leader of reckoning in Maharashtra and India, took upon himself arduous task of
translating the dreams of his father into concrete realities by meticulous,

Inception
Under the
Technical Education Complex advanced by the Pravara Rural Education Society, in
August, 1981 Pravara Rural College of Pharmacy, (Diploma Course), Pravaranagar
institution has been started.
In 1964,
society was established by the Late Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Eknathrao Vikhe
Patil also the founder of the Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Sahakari
Sakhar Karkhana.
The society has
been registered both under the Societies Registration act 1860 and the Bombay
Public Trust Act 1950.
In1981-82, Pravara Rural College of Pharmacy has been
originated when Diploma in Pharmacy Course was established as one of the seven
disciplines in Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Institute of Technology and
Engineering (Polytechnic) at Pravaranagar by Hon’ble Shri. E. V. alias Balasaheb
Vikhe Patil, Minister, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of
India to meet the demands of Pharmacist of this rural area.
