Hyosung Corp. develops high voltage switchgear
Korea Herald :12/07/2007
Hyosung Corp, one of the nation`s leading industrial materials makers, said
yesterday it has developed a circuit breaker of the highest voltage in the
world.
The 1100kv, gas-insulated switchgear is an upgrade to the previous
record-holder, which the company developed in 2000.
The gas-insulated switchgear can be installed in a small space in cities
or buildings, ensuring a reliable long-haul power transfer, Hyosung officials
said.
The officials said the demand for high voltage power facilities will
grow fast in Asia in the coming years on the back of the region`s rapid economic
growth.
They particularly pointed to China and India as potential markets. The
emerging economies` energy consumption rates are surging to fuel the sizzling
economies.
Power demand in China, in particular, is expected to double by 2020.
The vast land of the two countries will lead to further growth in demand
for high voltage power systems, according to Hyosung.
