Development:
Developing new products is a passion and also a necessity for them. With
the stated objective of providing at least 90% of the family food basket in the
next few years, this is of top importance to them. They have a strong R&D
team focused on food products and also work with many Research Institutions and
experienced food consultants to create new and unique products. Over the last
two years they have been successful in launching over 300 products ranging from
different flours, to differently milled rice, processed products like Chutneys,
Ready to Eat (RTE) & Ready to Cook (RTC) products, jams, pickles, masalas,
ready to eat foods, Nutrition Bars, Ayurvedic Cookies, health drinks etc.
Having the own stores and dedicated partnerships with Retailers in
The product development efforts start with a concept and a search for
the recipes. This often takes them to the homes of families who have perfected
the art of fine cooking over many generations. Then the culinary experts in the
trial kitchen experiment and fine tune the recipe. They then work with experts,
research institutions and manufacturing partners to develop the production
technology. They strictly adhere to the Organic protocol.
Take the example of the Ayurvedic cookies and health drinks where they
have worked with a leading research institution with in depth knowledge in
Ayurvedic and local health traditions and capabilities in product development.
·
First they researched the Sastras (Traditional
Ayurvedic texts) to identify appropriate and authentic Ayurvedic formulae for
the various purposes intended by them.
·
The next step was to identify the appropriate
vehicles for presenting the benefits. In this case they choose Cookies and
health drinks to incorporate the Ayurvedic formulae.
·
They then developed an appropriate recipe for the
cookies and lealth drinks in consultation with Vaidyas (Ayurvedic Doctor).
This was essential to ensure that the other ingredients had a synergistic or
neutral effect on the intended benefit.
·
Then the production methods were developed keep in
view the handling properties of the Ayurvedic formula.
·
The products were produced in the Lab and
palatability and shelf life tests were done. The recipe and production methods
were further fine tuned.
·
Finally the skilled bakers took over to add there
own experience and unique touch to come out with exemplary products.
·
The end result - Immuno cookies, Ayurvedic health
cookies, Digestive cookies, Breath easy Cake, Diabetic cookies.
