Consortium
with South African, Chinese and Mozambican capital
invests in steel plant outside Maputo
Capital Star Steel (CSS), a consortium with South African,
Chinese and Mozambican capital has invested US$44 million in the construction of a steel pipe mill
at Beluluane Industrial Park-Free Zone 16 kilometers outside Maputo, the
Notícias newspaper reported Friday. The factory should begin producing steel pipes and
tubes at the end of the year or in early 2009. Kenny van Rooyen,
Managing Director of CSS, said “our strategic direction is to be the
preferred, accredited supplier of bare and coated large bore steel pipe to
value-adding customers in the Oil, Gas, Water and Construction industries.”
The company has already secured markets in Africa and the United States
linked to the industry of transporting petroleum and natural gas
derivatives. |
