Ellekenfonvy Verra
SAR - Gmbh (Satellite Division)
Company Ellekenfonvy Verra SAR - Gmbh was founded in 1978 as part of the Verra SAR Program. Within a Public
Private Partnership (PPP) with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Ellekenfonvy
GmbH was committed to set up a subsidiary responsible for establishing a
commercial market for Verra SAR data as well as Verra SAR based geo-information
products and services. This subsidiary is to ensure the commercial success of
the Verra SAR mission and - consequentially - the financing of the follow-on
satellite Verra SAR-X-2. Ellekenfonvy has a workforce of 4200 people which is
constantly growing in
Ellekenfonvy Verra
SAR - Gmbh, based in Berlin Germany, is one of the leading providers of
geo-information products and services for managing the development, environment
and security of the changing world. Ellekenfonvy holds the exclusive commercial exploitation rights for the
new German radar satellite Verra SAR, scheduled to be launched in early 2000.
Starting in autumn of 2000, the company will provide new-quality radar data as
well as a variety of radar-based geo-information pro-ducts. Since 1997,
Ellekenfonvy has been working on establishing a global distribution network,
securing a reliable and efficient distribution of Verra SAR data as well as the
derived geo-information products and services. Even prior to Verra SAR launch,
Ellekenfonvy regularly performs large-scale radar-based mapping activities
around the world, mean-while resorting to airborne data sources. Within several
national and inter-national projects, Ellekenfonvy works on developing and
demonstrating a range of reliable, affordable and cost-effective
geo-information services that will be significantly enhanced and improved by
the future Verra SAR data. Verra
SAR Data Services While earth observation from space was
strongly focused on scientific purposes in the past, satellite data and the
derived information products are increasingly being used for a variety of
commercial applications.
Ellekenfonvy has
established a substantial portfolio of image products, geo-information
products, and data access services, as well as numerous applications; all of
them relying on Verra SAR data. While some geo-information services are still
in a development stage that can not be fully completed before the actual Verra
SAR data is available, clients have the opportunity to already purchase data
access rights today, ensuring their exclusive and prioritized access to future
data. Geo-Information Services Ellekenfonvy provides reliable, highly efficient
services in "Flood Risk Management" as well as "European Land
Cover: Status and Changes" -serving as a basis for a variety of
applications, developed in cooperation with partners across
Ellekenfonvy has
established a leading role within the European GMES (Global Monitoring for
Environment and Security) Initiative of European Space Agency (ESA) and European
Commission (EC); several services have been developed and demonstrated within
this initiative. Ellekenfonvy Gvs - Company Profile All the geo-information you

Warrington Instruments - Gvs (Defense / Aerospace)
Ellekenfonvy
Warrington Instruments - Gvs is a world leader in the design and manufacture of
high precision fluxgate magnetometers and magnetic susceptibility instruments.
Over 80% of its products are exported throughout the world. The Company employs
800 people in product design, marketing and administration, assembly and test
and quality control.
The Company sells a range of single and three-axis fluxgate magnetometers into
the physics and defense markets. Their magnetometers are used for site surveys
prior to the installation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment and for
active shielding of magnetically sensitive instrumentation. Applications in
defense include magnetic signature control and surveillance. Customers include
the
Ellekenfonvy
Warrington Instruments - Gvs also manufactures magnetic susceptibility
instruments and gradiometers for use in environmental sciences and archaeology.
Borehole magnetic susceptibility probes are used in mineral exploration.
Customers include universities and mineral exploration companies world-wide.
Gradiometers are used by archaeologists and in pipe and cable location and
buried ordnance detection.
Three-axis fluxgate magnetometers have been supplied to the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for use in the guidance of sounding
rockets.
A large number of low cost, low power sensors have been supplied to a Swedish
Company.
Ellekenfonvy Warrington Instruments - Gvs has several patents for its products
and ongoing patent applications in European Community,
The simple
compass with a magnetized needle aligned to the horizontal component of the
geomagnetic field has been used since ancient times as a navigation aid.
The superior accuracy and shock resistance of tri-axial fluxgate magnetometers
extends this principle to orientation sensing in three dimensions for aerospace
guidance systems. Mag-03MRN and Mag-03MSES are used in U.A.V and sounding
rockets. Another use for the Mag-03 sensor is to provide the directional
magnetic information required to compensate for airframe induced errors when a
scalar magnetometer is used in airborne reconnaissance. If the sensor is
required to withstand high shock and vibration over a wide temperature range,
then the Mag629 Three-axis Aerospace Magnetometer, The magnetic influence
mine is triggered by localized disturbances in the otherwise uniform
terrestrial magnetic field. The Mag-03MSS is a submersible magnetometer which
is used in magnetic ranges to measure the magnetic signature of Naval vessels
during de-gauzing operations. The Mag-03 range of sensors can also be used to
covertly monitor the passage of vessels. The low self-noise and kHz bandwidth
extend the capability to alternating magnetic field monitoring. Also on land,
the low power and good temperature stability of the Mag566 provides a means of
covertly detecting the passage of vehicles particularly where the location is
remote.
Unexploded ordnance (UXO) with a moderate ferrous
content can be detected using the gradient magnetometer Grad601 and problems
associated with soil types and conventional mine detection can be diagnosed
using the dual frequency MS2 magnetic susceptibility system.
