John Fowler is a pioneer in the field of filters and filtration systems in India and is in operation since 1953.With its wide product range for Internal Combustion Engines and Industrial applications, John Fowler caters to the requirements of several reputed Original Equipment Manufacturers.


John Fowler is a professionally managed, technology - driven company, committed to satisfying its customer's needs of filtration solution through innovative research and development. Its in-house RandD centre, recognized by Dept. of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), is equipped with comprehensive test facilities to test various filters as per national and international standards.


The company is certified for ISO 9001:2000 - Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2004-Environmental Management System. It has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at two locations, one at Bommasandra for manufacture of filters for IC engines and industrial applications and the other at Dehradun (Uttarakhand) for filters for automotive application.

 

John Fowler has the following subsidiaries:

 

• Fowler Westrup (India) Private Limited The Company has a plant in Bangalore manufacturing Post Harvest Agricultural processing machinery and Transformer Oil conditioning machinery. Fowler Westrup offers total solutions and turnkey projects to meet the varying demands of the customers. Fowler Westrup in turn has a subsidiary, Radix Systems Limited, based in UK, who manufacture electronic colour sorters.

 

Westrup A/S, Denmark. They are engaged in the manufacture of agricultural machineries. Westrup A/S has subsidiaries in UK, France, USA, Australia and Sweden.

 

Milestone:

 

1953     Established as a trading company dealing in Spares for Fowler road rollers and locomotives.

1965     Established a manufacturing facility in Calcutta for manufacture of filters and filter elements.

1966     Established a manufacturing facility in Bangalore with technical tie up with Vokes, UK for manufacture of filters and filter elements, transformer oil conditioning plants and tobacco processing machinery.

1973     Established in - house RandD department (subsequently recognized by DSIR)

1994     Set up a filter paper impregnation facility.

1995     Obtained ISO 9001:1994 certification for Quality Management System.

2001     Formed two joint ventures Dickenson Fowler - for manufacture of tobacco processing machinery.
Fowler Westrup - for manufacture of seed processing machinery and transformer oil conditioning plants.

2003     Recertified for ISO 9001:2000 version.  Set up Automotive Filter Plant with state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Whitefield, Bangalore.

2004     Industrial Filter division shifted to a new location at Bommasandra, Bangalore with state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facilities.

2005     Obtained ISO 14001 : 2004 certification for Environmental Management System.

2006     Received patent from Govt. of India, for Machine for conditioning of diesel oil.

2008     Automotive Filter Division relocated to Dehra Dun in Uttarakhand.

 

 

Products:

 

Engine Filters:

 

Fowler filters manufactured with high technology and expertise, protect the I.C. engines in all operating conditions, whether on road, off-road, moving or stationary. Fowler air filters are proven products that are used by various leading OE manufacturers for many years to their full satisfaction. The capacity ranges from 100 to 5000 cubic metre/ hour and these air cleaners are suitable for very dusty conditions. They can be horizontal or vertical type, with or without precleaner, with single or two elements and with options such as restriction indicator, dust ejection valve, inlet hood.


John Fowler also supplies other filters for engines, such as fuel filters, lubricating oil filters and breathers.


Fuel filters are of two types- primary filter and secondary filter. These filters provide guaranteed protection to fuel injection system of the engine. Lubricating oil filters are of two types- full flow oil filter and by-pass oil filter. These filters provide protection to lubrication system of engine. Breathers are of two types- crank case breather and tank breather. These breathers prevent dust ingress into the tank / crank case from atmosphere and also prevent oil vapour / oil mist escaping out to atmosphere.

 

All these filters are tested as per National/ International/Customer standards for performance.

 

Industrial Filters:

 

John Fowler understands customer's filtration requirements and accordingly designs the filters. They are manufactured with utmost care and expertise so that the final requirements are fully met. The range of industrial filters supplied by John Fowler includes panel filters and HEPA filters for heating ventilation and air conditioning application, compressed air filters, gas filters etc. and also liquid filtration products such as hydraulic filters, coalescers and separators for aviation fuel, water filters.


Panel filters are of two types- pre filters and fine filters. These filters are tested as per relevant national / international standards. All HEPA filters are tested as per DOP test procedure using particle counter and certified individually for DOP efficiency of 99.97% down to 0.3 micron. John Fowler makes MIL standard HEPA filters also for more stringent applications.


John Fowler supplies hydraulic filters with flow rate ranging from 10 lpm to 450 lpm as per customers' requirement. These filters are tested generally as per ISO 16889 standard or as per customer specification for performance.


After extended RandD trials, John Fowler has developed coalescers and separators used for filtration of aviation fuel for removal of particulates and free water from aviation turbine fuel. These filters are tested in the laboratory as per standard API 1581 - 5th Edition

 

Filteration System:

 

 

John Fowler is a technology-driven company committed to providing total filtration solution to the customers. In addition to supplying filters, the company designs and provides complete filtration systems to the customer.


Fowler air filtration systems for locomotive consist of primary cyclonic stage, secondary fine filters, dust extraction blowers, motors ductings etc.


Laminar Flow Work Stations-localised clean work zones of various sizes with optional features such as manometers, UV germicidal lamps, doors, provision for fixing accessories etc., - are supplied by the company. John Fowler also designs, supplies and commissions Clean Rooms as per customer requirement.


High tech filtration technology developed for filtration of aviation turbine fuel has been adapted for conditioning diesel to remove water and particulate contaminants.
