ALEXANDRIA, Va.,
July 3 -- United States Patent no. 8,208,204, issued on June 26, was assigned
to Arkema France (Colombes, France).
"Multi-Layer
Screen Composites" was invented by Manuel A. Garcia-Leiner (Royersford,
Pa.) and Jack J. Reilly (Blue Bell, Pa.).
According to the
abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The
invention relates to multi-layer composites for use as a screen, having at
least three layers, with an inner diffusing layer and at least one substrate
layer on either side. The diffusing layer contains small particles having a
narrow particle size distribution that are refractive-index mismatched with the
polymer matrix. The multi-layer acrylic composition is useful as a projection
screen."
The patent was
filed on Jan. 25, 2008, under Application No. 12/525,386.

ALEXANDRIA, Va.,
July 1 -- United States Patent no. 8,207,384, issued on June 26, was assigned
to Arkema France (Colombes, France).
"Catalytic
Gas Phase Fluorination of 243db to 1234yf" was invented by Laurent
Wendlinger (Soucieu en Jarrest, France), Anne Pigamo (Francheville, France) and
Dominique Deur-Bert (Charly, France).
According to the
abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The
invention provides a process for preparing 1234yf, comprising: (i) contacting
243db with hydrogen fluoride HF in gas phase in the presence of a fluorination
catalyst under conditions sufficient to produce a reaction mixture; (ii)
separating the reaction mixture into a first stream comprising HCl, 1234yf and
a second stream comprising HF, 1233xf and 245cb; (iii) recycling at least a
part of the second stream at least in part back to step (i). The invention also
provides a process for preparing 1234yf, comprising: (i) contacting 243db with
hydrogen fluoride HF in gas phase in the presence of a fluorination catalyst
under conditions sufficient to produce a reaction mixture; (ii) separating the
reaction mixture into HCl and a stream containing the fluorinated products;
(iii) separating said stream containing the fluorinated products into a first
stream comprising 1234yf and a second stream comprising HF, 1233xf and 245cb;
(iv) recycling at least a part of the second stream at least in part back to
step (i)."
The patent was
filed on Dec. 23, 2010, under Application No. 12/978,288.
