INDIAN ECONOMIC OVERVIEW
India is developing into an open-market economy, yet traces
of its past autarkic policies remain. Economic liberalization, including
industrial deregulation, privatization of state-owned enterprises, and reduced
controls on foreign trade and investment, began in the early 1990s and has
served to accelerate the country's growth, which has averaged more than 7% per
year since 1997. India's diverse economy encompasses traditional village
farming, modern agriculture, handicrafts, a wide range of modern industries,
and a multitude of services. Slightly more than half of the work force is in
agriculture, but services are the major source of economic growth, accounting
for more than half of India's output, with only one-third of its labor force.
India has capitalized on its large educated English-speaking population to
become a major exporter of information technology services and software
workers. In 2010, the Indian economy rebounded robustly from the global
financial crisis - in large part because of strong domestic demand - and growth
exceeded 8% year-on-year in real terms. However, India's economic growth in
2011 slowed because of persistently high inflation and interest rates and
little progress on economic reforms. High international crude prices have
exacerbated the government's fuel subsidy expenditures contributing to a higher
fiscal deficit, and a worsening current account deficit. Little economic reform
took place in 2011 largely due to corruption scandals that have slowed legislative
work. India's medium-term growth outlook is positive due to a young population
and corresponding low dependency ratio, healthy savings and investment rates,
and increasing integration into the global economy. India has many long-term
challenges that it has not yet fully addressed, including widespread poverty,
inadequate physical and social infrastructure, limited non-agricultural
employment opportunities, scarce access to quality basic and higher education,
and accommodating rural-to-urban migration.

Kalla Mandal, Bhimavaram (West), Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India [Mr.
Mohan Krishna V.]
Mobile No.: 91-9848933044
Email: nexusfeedsbvm@yahoo.co.in
PROFILE:
This is a proprietorship firm started in the year 2003. The proprietor is Mr. Ubaid Ahmed. The firm is engaged in the import of machinery from Taiwan and selling it in India. The machinery that they import are used in the manufacture of fish feed.
Now, a word about the location of the firm. The firm has its own building which is three storied and has an area of about 1800 sq. ft. Mr. Sridhar, the manager of the firm claims that the building belongs to Mr. Ubaid the proprietor. The building has its office in the ground floor. They could see three staff working there. One Mr. Sridhar who is the manager. They have two other staff one of them sub staff to help in the office and another PRO. This gentleman seems to have travelled to Taiwan and knows all about Taiwan. During his travels he has had the opportunity to know about the machinery of Chia Tung Development Corporation Limited, Tainan Hsien, Taiwan. The subject company (that is Chia Tung Development Corporation Limited) manufactures high priced state of the art machinery for the manufacture of fish feed, prawn feed etc. Priced at about 60 to 70 crores a piece these machinery find a good market in the prawn and fish cultivating states of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Ubaid the proprietor is presently in Taiwan visiting Chia Tung Development Corpn. Mr. Sridhar the manager of the firm also is well versed in the installation of the machinery that is being imported. The import is being done on third party basis with the user importing direct while Pioneer sees to the ordering, procuring, shipment, offloading, surface transportation and other protocols till the machinery reaches the importer. Subsequently they also handle installation and erection of the machinery at the clients place.
Subject gets paid for the liaison, erection and other
shipping services that they provide to the importers. The firm claims that their turnover is about
500.000 Millions a year. Since the
machinery they import is high priced, the commission they get on the import is
also high. However there is now way to
verify the turnover. This is hearsay and
was stressed both by the manger Mr. Sridhar and Mr. Ubaid. Caution advised in all financial transactions
with them. Orders may be placed against
LCs or documents through bank.
They claim that they are the only importers of these type
of machines in India and that they hold the record for importing and installing
the largest machinery in the manufacture of fish feed for Ms Nexus feeds Ltd,
AP with a capacity of 18 tonnes per hour.
A small firm with the advantage of dealing in products that are unique and customer specific. The strength of the firm is their connections in Taiwan. Both the proprietor and his staff have in depth knowledge of Taiwan and have numerous friends there who help them.
