OPERATIONS:

The Sales turnover for the year ended 31st March, 2013 amounted to Rs.27846.000 Million as against Rs.25212.100 Million achieved in the previous year. Profit before tax stood at Rs.1216.000 Million. Net profit for the year amounted to Rs.846.700 Million.

During the year, the performance of the poultry and poultry products segment improved as compared to the previous year, in spite of continuous high cost of feed ingredients and lower realizations from sale of day old chicks and grown up birds for most of the periods. The vaccines segment registered better growth both in sales turnover and profits, due to increased demand. The performance of egg powder products segment continued to be subdued, due to unfavorable market conditions

During the year, as part of its restructuring of business operations, the business units of North based poultry and packaging divisions, commonly known as 'North Poultry Division' or 'NPD' and 'North Packaging Division' or 'NPAD') situated at Naraingarh - Haryana, Nalagarh - Himachal Pradesh and Ludhiana - Punjab have been hived off with effect from 31st March, 2014 ('the effective date') on a going concern by way of a slump sale for total consideration of Rs.416.800 Million

These divisions were engaged in production of commercial layer chicks and packing boxes for day old chicks and eggs. The assets and liabilities pertaining to these units were transferred at their respective book values. Accordingly, Company has earned profit of Rs.356.400 Million on sale of the said divisions, disclosed as an exceptional item in the statement of Profit and Loss. The Company has recognised current tax expenses of Rs.82.200 Million in the tax expenses for the year in the Statement of Profit and Loss:
